"Beach" Fun with These Little Piggies

Picture
Selfie Station: These little piggies take a selfie at the end of the book.  Provide props for kids to take their own selfies or parents can take photos.  Photos can be posted to social media.  Props could include heart-shaped (or any funny) glasses, pig noses, pig ears, sun hats, a beach ball, the book (!), and plastic beach pails and shovels.  (Plastic pig noses and ears can be reasonably purchased online.)

Games:
  • Beach Ball Boogie:  Use a sharpie to write a different action word on each colored section of the ball, such as, “hop,”
“oink,” “spin,” or “swim.” Toss the ball. When a player catches it, she must perform the action closest to her right hand.

  • This Little Piggie Says:  Think "Simon Says" only the game leader wears a pig nose, e.g. “This little piggie says, “Stamp
     your feet."

  • Bottle of Beach Contest:  Fill two empty 16-ounce plastic soda bottles with sand and several (identical) trinkets (game
pieces, dice, beads, pennies, etc.). Say, “Go” and the contest begins. Two kids or two teams shake the bottles around
and try to identify the trinkets. They can write down what they see or shout it out. The first one to get to the total wins!

Draw your own sandcastle
with markers or pencils on the Sandcastle Activity page. (Click here for a PDF.)

Complete the maze to help these little piggies find the beach.
