AUTHOR VISITS
Virtual or In-person

I love to leave the solitude of my writing desk and talk to readers in person or virtually! I've been visiting schools and libraries in person since 2002 and virtually since 2009. Where in the world have I visited? Check out the map I created at the bottom of my home page.

I offer several programs for students in grades K-5 (and occasionally visit preschool classrooms as well).
I'm also happy to customize my program to fit the needs of your class or audience or homeschooling group.

Click here to read some testimonials.

All of my programs are available both in-person AND virtually.

   Cooking a Book

“Amy’s Cook a Book presentation was a wonderful opportunity for my students to
hear about the writing process from an inspiring author. Now my students are
eager to cook a book of their own!”

        —
Nicole Morin, 1st grade teacher, Brimmer and May School in Chestnut Hill, MA

An Egg-cellent Program

"Amy Sklansky captivates students (and teachers) with her real-world experiences about becoming a published author as well as scientific experiments that WOW! Her Cooking a Book and Eggs-periments presentations are both 'something to crow about!'"

— London DeMare, Givens Elementary in Webster Groves, MO

20-Minute Chat with an Author

"Your time spent with us was priceless. Many of the students came back to
school on Monday and headed straight for the writing corner to create a book.
You have inspired my students and I truly appreciate it! "

  From Inspiration to Bookstore Shelf

"Both years you talked about each step of the writing process, which I love,
and that definitely makes an impact on my students! We are working through
the revision stage right now and their eyes got huge when you said you make
     changes 10-15 times."

                       — Sarah Brynsaas, Teacher, John Cline Elementary in Decorah, IA

Inside a Poet's Mind

"I've never met a real published author before, and it was neat to not only hear an author speak to us about her writing, but to actually come in and work with us and teach us some techniques she uses to write poetry.  It was really amazing."

— 4th Grader, The John Cooper School in The Woodlands, TX

FREE Mini Virtual Visits
No budget, no problem. I offer one free, 20-minute
"meet an author" virtual visit each month. During this mini visit, I will pop into your classroom or library or other group to introduce myself, read a bit, and answer questions about the writing process or any of my books. I offer multiple Mini Virtual Visits on World Read Aloud Day! Before contacting me, please check Upcoming Events to see if I'm available for your preferred month or if there is an available spot for WRAD. This free visit is a one-time offer to schools. However, if you enjoyed it and want to book another year, please consider my 20-minute Chat with an Author (paid) program.

Requirements for free visits: Share at least one of my books with students in advance AND send me a photo/screenshot of our visit that
I can post to social media.
